One of those days....
He pulled to a stop behind the truck in front of him. His two front tires came to rest in the puddle below. Waves radiated from points of disturbance in the small pool of water. He watched the waves race out towards the edges of the pool through his open window.
Just then a truck turned onto the street heading the opposite way. The truck's wheels splashed into the pond. Splashed and shot water up through the air to pepper the side of his car.
He had reflexively closed his eyes, but had failed to reflexively close his window.
It was one of those days.
****************************************
My left front tire went flat yesterday. Absolutely flat. When I found it, the air was still hissing out. Hissing audibly.
After taking it off, having my mother run it to the local National Tire and Battery to get it patched, and placing the spare back on, I could only think of this being a bad car week.
It was this morning that the bad car week status was confirmed. The local NTB did not have patches for my tire. They had them at another store and the patches were on the way. For 3 hours they were on the way. For 2, I sat in the store waiting to get my tire fixed.
Needless to say, I was going to be late for work. The boss told me there was nothing to do, and unless I wanted the hours (which would have been about 5 at this point), I probably should not come in.
So I took a mulligan on the day and stayed at home. I got some sleep, woke up, and decided to be productive and get my allergy shot.
It was then that the open-window incident occurred.
At the allergist's, they asked "Were you caught in the rain?"
I told them no, I left my window open and another car splashed water on me.
They laughed, and sympathized.
It has been one of those days.
The real scary part: the day isn't over.
Sans souci, on peut seulement sourire.
